Jesus prayed at critical times in his life, Part 1
Jesus is our wounded healer. He was touched by the same infirmities, insults, afflictions, and grief that we ourselves have been touched by. It is important to know how to pray to God in such difficult times. As believers, we need to know that we have hope; and that deliverance is available to us even in our darkest hours. Let’s take a look at how Jesus prayed during critical times in his life.
At his baptism. "When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove." ( Luke 3:21-22)
Before he chose his twelve disciples. "One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God. When morning came, he called his disciples to him and chose twelve of them." ( Luke 6:13)
In the face of temptation. After the miracle of the feeding of the five thousand the people tried to make Jesus their king. This was a temptation to avoid the cross and Jesus overcame this temptation by seeking refuge in prayer. “After the people saw the miraculous sign that Jesus did, they began to say, ‘Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world.” Jesus, knowing that they intended to come and make him king by force, withdrew again to a mountain by himself.” ( John 6:14-15)
From the cross. Jesus called out with a loud voice, "Father, into your hand I commit my spirit." ( Luke 23: 46). Jesus said, "It is finished. With that he bowed his head and gave up his spirit." (John 19:30)
One very important thing that we as believers must always remember is that Jesus Christ has already given us authority and power over sickness, disease, our enemies and the devil. Mark 16:17-18 says: "And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast our demons, they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents an if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."
Acts 1:8 states: "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be
witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."
Most of us are praying from our condition and not from our position. The truth is that we are seated in heavenly places with Christ Jesus. He has already given us the authority, which comes by using His name, the power, which is His Word and the blood of Jesus which gives us the victory over death, hell and the grave. We don’t have to be SCARED!. We are not just conquerors, we are MORE THAN CONQUERORS through Christ Jesus. Amen!!!
Be blessed in the Lord! And (DFTSYP) Don’t Forget To Say Your Prayers.
