Thought about the Holy Spirit Please meditate on this thought. "The Holy spirit is not the personification of anything. He is a person. Spell this out in capital letters: THE HOLY SPIRIT IS A PERSON. He is not enthusiasm. He is not courage. he is not energy. He is not the personification of all good qualities, like Jack Frost is the personification of cold weather. the Holy Spirit is a person," When you get comfortable with that idea and see it as a truth in your life, you will begin to talk to and trust in the Holy Spirit for guidance, comfort, training and instruction, grace, salvation and deliverance and so much more.

PICTURES OF GOD Pictures of God are given throughout the Bible. They are not meant to be taken in a literal way but to help us in our understanding about who God is and what he does.
The problem we humans have is that we have never seed God (see John 1:18). To help us, the Bible speaks of God having human features such as: a face: Genesis 33:10, a hand: 1 Samuel 5:11, an arm: John 12:38, eyes: Genesis 6:8, and a mouth: Deuteronomy 8:3. The Bible gives us symbols of the Holy Spirit so that we can understand more about him.
THE DOVE IN ALLFOUR GOSPELS MATTHEW "As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water, At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him." Matthew 3:16
MARK "As Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove." Mark 1:10.
LUKE "......and the Holy Spirit descending on him in bodily form like a dove," Luke 3:22.

BIBLE SYMBOLS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT: OIL
OIL AND COMFORT AND JOY.
THE HOLY SPIRIT BRINGS JOY "You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy." Psalm 45:7 "You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness'; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy," Hebrews 1:9 . LEADERSHIP Oil was involved in the anointing of the Old Testament prophets, priest, and kings. They were anointed with oil as they started their special work for God.
OIL AND CONSECRATING When Saul anointed David to be Israel's future king, a specific line is made between oil and the Holy Spirit. "So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the LORD came upon David in power." 1 Samuel 16:13.
THOUGHT ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT THE DISTINCTIVE THING ABOUT THE CHRISTIAN VIEW OF THE SPIRIT IS THAT THE INFINITE DIVINE RESOURCES OF GOD HIMSELF ARE AVAILABLE FOR THE HUMBLEST BELIEVER, TO ENABLE HIM TO LIVE THE CHRISTIAN LIFE. (LEON MORRIS).
OIL IN HEALING The first Christians used anointing with oil for healing. It is a symbolic act indicating the work of the Holy Spirit in healing. "Is anyone sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord/" James 5:14.
KEY VERSE "....HOW GOD ANOINTED JESUS OF NAZARETH WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT AND POWER, AND HOW HE WENT AROUNHD DOING GOOD AND HEALING ALL WHO WERE UNDER THE POWER OF THE DEVIL, BECAUSE GOD WAS WITH HIM." ACTS 10:38
THE MEANING OF "HOLY SPIRIT" THE PHRASE "HOLY SPIRIT" IS THE TRANSLATION OF TWO GREEK WORDS: HAGION, WHICH MEANS "HOLY," AND PNEUMA, WHICH MEANS "SPIRIT."
PERSON OR INFLUENCE? SOME PEOPLE THINK THAT THE HOLY SPIRIT IS NO MORE THAN AN INFLUENCXE, AN IMPERSONAL FORCE THAT COMES FRONM GOD. THEY IMAGINE THE HOLY SPIRIT TO BE SOMETHING LIKE "THE FORCE" IN THE PHRASE, ":THE FORCE BE WITH YOU" SPOKEN IN STAR WARS. JEHOVAH'S WITNESS, FOR EXAMPLE, SPEAK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT BEING "GOD'S ACTIVE FORCE."
BUT, THE HOLY SPIRIT IS A PERSON! WE SPEAK OF A PERSON HAVING A PERSONALITY. THE HOLY SPIRIT SHOWS IN HIS DEEDS THAT HE, TOO, HAS PERSONALITY. THE HOLY SPIRIT:SPEAKS SE 1 TIMOTHY 4:1. THE HOLY SPIRIT TEACHES SEE JOHN 14:26 THE HOLY SPIRIT HAS A WILL SEE 1 CORINTHIANS 12:11. THE HOLY SPIRIT HAS A MIND SEE ROMANS 8:27. THE HOLY SPIRIT HAS EMOTIONS SEE EPHESIANS 4:30.
THE HOLY SPIRIT IS NOT AN" IT".
THE GREEK WORD FOR SPRIT, PNEUMA, IS A NEUTER GENDER WORD. HOWEVER, WHENEVER THE PRONOUN IS USED IN THE NEW TESTAMENT TO REFER TO THE HOLY SPIRIT, THE WORD "HE," NOT "IT," IS USED. "WHEN THE COUNSELOR COMES, WHOM I WILL SEND TO YOU FROM THE FATHER, THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH WHO GOES OUT FROM THE FATHER, HE WILL TESTIFY ABOUT ME." JOHN 15:26. AS THE HOLY SPIRIT IS A PERSON THE PERSONAL PRONOUN IS ALWAYS USED ABOUT HIM.
BIBLE SYMBOLS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT: WIND
SYMBOLS AND THE HOLY SPIRIT The Bible uses a number of symbols to describe who the Holy Spirit is, and what the Holy Spirit does. These symbols point us to the nature of God the Holy spirit.
The Wind Symbol The Holy spirit, although invisible, produces wonderful characteristics in the lives of Christian, which are on view for all to see. This is just like the activity of the wind, which, while invisible in itself, leaves a distinct trail behind it wherever it goes.
Old Testament Background The Old Testament, written in Hebrews, uses the Hebrew word Ruah to mean three things: breath, wind, and spirit.
The translation of the Hebrew word Ruah in the KJV Old Testament Ruah is translated as "Spirit" or "spirit" 232 times. Ruah is translated as "Wind" 92 times. Ruah is translated as "Breath" 27 times.
The Spirit of God and Creation This same Hebrew word ruah is used in the second verse in the Bible, pointing to the role the Holy Spirit played in creation. "Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deepm and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters." Genesis 1:2.
Jesus explains about the Spirir and wind. Jesus told a senior Jewish religious leader, Nicodemus, that being born of God's Spirit was like th wind blowing. The Greek word pneuma is translated both "wind and "Spirit" in this passage. So it is easy to see why Jesus used the wind (Pneuma) as a symbol of the Holy Spirit. "You should not be surprised at my saying, "You must be born again." the wind (pneuma) blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it cdomes from or where it is going. so it is with everyone born of the Spirit (pneuma)." John 3:7-8.
The translation on Pneuma The translation of the Greek word Pneuma in the KJV New Testament. is translated as "Spirit" 11 times. Pneuma is translated as "(Holy) Ghost (that is Spirit)" 89 times. Pneuma is translated as "(Spirit )Of God)" 13 times. Pneuma is translated as "Spirit (of the Lord)" 5 times. Pneuma is translated as "spirit (of truth)" 3 times. Pneuma is translated as "Spirit (of Christ)" 2 times.
THOUGHT ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT "THE HOLY SPIRIT ALONE CAN REVEAL THE PERSON OF CHRIST." Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones
WAS THE HOLY SPIRIT ACTIVE IN THE OLD TESTAMENT?
Old Testament books refer to the Holy Spirit.
Holy Spirit is mentioned eighty-eight times in the Old Testament.
phrase “the Holy Spirit” is used only three times in the Old Testament.
such as “the Holy spirit” are used frequently in the Old Testament to refer to
the Holy Spirit.
HOLY SPIRIT’S WORK
The Holy Spirit’s work or activity is often
mentioned in the Old Testament.
Holy Spirit was active in creation. “Now the earth was
formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit
of God was hovering over the waters.” Genesis 1:2.
Holy Spirit was active in renewing the earth. “When you send your Spirit, they
are created and you renew the face of the earth.” Psalm 104:30
Holy Spirit was active in creating humankind (Elihu) said: “The
Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life.” Job 33:4
The Holy Spirit lived
in, or came upon, many people in the Old Testament.
Joseph, “So Pharaoh
asked them, “Can we find anyone like this man, one in whom is the spirit of
God?” Genesis 41:38
The judge Othniel, “The Spirit of the Lord came upon him, so that he became
Israel’s judge.” Judges 3:10
David: “So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the
presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the Lord came upon
David in power.” 1 Samuel 16:13.
Thought about the
There is no subject
important in religion than that of the Holy Spirit. Unless this is properly
understood, a large part of the Bible will remain unintelligible. On the other
hand a correct view about the Holy Spirit will do more than knowledge of any
other particular topic to give harmony, clearness, and consistency to what may
be learned about all other matters presented in the Word of God.” (Robert
Key Verse “The Spirit of the Lord
will come upon you in power and you will prophesy with them: and you will be
changed into a different person.” (1 Samuel 10:6).
As you pray today, allow the Holy Spirit to minister and reveal His presence to you. Let Him minister to His purpose and plans for your life. Clear away all distractions and give him permission to invade you total being. put on some worship music and allow the Spirit of the Lord to saturate your space. Then bring your thought into captivity so that He can speak through your mind and spirit. ENOY HIS PRESENCE

THE HOLY SPIRIT: FIRE
Fire and wind: On the day of Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit empowered the first Christians, fire and wind symbolized the presence of the Holy Spirit.
"When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place...They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. all of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Sprit enabled them." Acts 2:1, 3-4
Three themes about fire Not every reference to fire in the Bible speaks of the Holy Spirit. But there are three themes about fire which are linked to the work of the Holy Spirit: Purification, Illumination and Searching.
Fire and Purification: Fire often refers to the holiness of God and the need for us to be purified in his sight. "The Lord will wash away the filth of the women of ion; he will cleanse the bloodstains from Jerusalem by a spirit of judgment and a sprit of fire." Isaiah 4:4
Fire and Illumination Just as fire was given to guide the Israelites in Old Testament, so Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit would guide his own followers into all truth. "by day the LORD went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night." Exodus 13:21
"But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come." John 16:13
Fire and Searching The fire of God's Spirit will search out and judge all our actions. "For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. it will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man's work." 1 Corinthians 3:11-13
THOUGHT ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT: Every time we say, "I believe in the Holy Spirit," we mean that we believe that there is a living God able and willing to enter human personality and change it." J.B. Phillips
THE HOLY SPIRIT AND THE WORD There are close links between the Spirit and the Scriptures.
THEY BOTH TEACH AND CONVICT.
The Spirit "When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment." (John 16:8)
The Bible "He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it." (Titus 1:9)
They both give spiritual birth The Spirit "Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit." (John 3:5).
The Bible "For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God." 1 (Peter 1:2-3).
They both make us holy The Spirit "And that is what some of your were, But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God."( 1 Corinthians 6:11)
The Bible "Sanctify them by the truth; you word is truth." (John 17:17)
THOUGH ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT THE HOLY SPIRIT IS "THE LORD, THE GIVER OF LIFE." ( (NICENE CREED)
Inspired by the Spirit: The greatest link between the Bible and the Holy Spirit is that the Bible was only written in the first place as a result of the inspiration of the Spirit. "Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit."( 2 Peter 1:20-21).
BIBLE SYMBOLS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT: WATER
Pure water: the "pure water" of Hebrews 1-:22 speaks of the Holy spirit, and his power to cleanses us from sin.
Symbols of the Holy Spirit There are many examples in the Bible of the Holy Spirit being symbolized. In the fist example, below, Jesus likens the Holy Spirit to flowing water.
Water as a symbol Water often symbolizes The Holy Sprit in the Bible. Water itself is used as a symbol for: Spiritual refreshment and Washing and cleansing from sin.
Washing and renewal This is the symbol used in Titus 3:5: "he saved us, not because of righteous things we have done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal of the Holy Spirit." "The washing of rebirth" and "renewal by the Holy Spirit" speak of two of the Spirit's activities in the life of a Christian.
We are: cleansed from sin and renewed to serve God.
Refreshment The idea of water refreshing us physically is used of the Holy spirit refreshing us spiritually. Refreshing water is spoken about in Isaiah 41:18: "I will make rivers flow on barren heights, and springs within the valleys. I will turn the desert into pools of water, and the parched ground into springs."
Inner thirst quenched To the woman of Samaria Jesus offered water that would refresh her soul. "Jesus answered, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life. " John 4:13-14
Jesus offers living water In the following verses Jesus himself explains that his use of "streams of living water" refer to "the Spirit." "On the last and greatest day of the Feast, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him. "By this he meant the Spirit whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified." John 7:37-39
THOUGHT ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT THE GREAT HERESY OF THE CHURCH OF THE PRESENT DAY IS UNBELIEF IN THE HOLY SPIRIT." GEORGE MACDONALD.
Father God, thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit. I have come to realize that I need Him every second of my life. Thank you for sealing my salvation, thank you for the spiritual gifts that you have so freely given to me, thank you for correction, guidance, and instruction. When I am running on empty after having poured out my gifts or soul to others, I can depend on you to restore my strength, faith, zeal, and compassion to keep on keeping on. Continue to teach me, Holy Spirit, that worship is the entry way to your heart. It is where rich treasures, miracles, signs and wonders are waiting to be bestowed on a vessel that is willing to spend precious time in you courts and pavilion. That is the secret place where intimacy and birthing take place. It is September, and I am desperately waiting to be impregnated with your vision in this season. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
