I heard a message once that was delivered by Pastor Jesse White Jr, Pastor of First Church of the Living God in Hartford, CT.. the message was entitled: "Time and Chance Happens to All Men." His text was found in the book of Ecclesiastes 9:11. This is what the New Living Translation says: "I have observed something else under the sun. The fastest funner doesn't always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn't always win the battle. the wise sometimes go hungry, and the skillful are not necessarily wealthy. and those who are educated don't always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time.
I have never forgotten that message. Because the truth of the matter according to the Word of God is: no matter how much you have planned you life, ministry, career, and relationships ,sometimes "Stuff Just Happens!" spiritual warfare is real folks. We have a real enemy who assigned to wreak havoc in your life and in mind. sometimes we bite off more than we can chew. That is why we have to be careful what we ask God for in prayer! You just might get what you've prayed for.
the other fact of the matter is, some people are just down right mean and nasty! There are wicked spirits in this world, some assassins whose mission is to attack you and make your life a living hell. Your own physical and emotional desires can stir up a spiritual battle within you, perhaps without your knowledge and consent. In everything and through everything we must pray. I always end my blogs with the phrase: "don't forget to say your prayers." Prayer puts to use the whole armor of God, (Ephesians 6) and you and I must go out with the armor on 27/7, 365. Prayer is the most powerful and important spiritual discipline. If Jesus needed to prayer, and He did, what in the world do you think you and I should be doing?
Just as a human being cannot live without air, without breathing, a Christian cannot survive without praying. A Christian female leader must pray before the meeting, during the meeting, and after the meeting. She should even pray for those meetings that she was strategically excluded from Lol! We must remember that God is still on the throne, and that He has the final answer, and through our prayers, He hears our petitions. 2 Chronicles 20:15 lets us know the Lord will fight for us. Prayer must be accompanied by praise. God inhabits the prayers and praise of His people. "the fervent prayer of a righteous (woman) availeth much." (James 5:16). J Moss the gospel singer puts it this way: "No matter who or what we are , we must praise."
Prayer helps us to remain focused on the prize no matter what happens. Staying focus means staying prayed up. That doesn't mean that we have to go overboard and become crazy and stupid. It doesn't mean that we have to close the doors to the office or your home on everyone and everything for hours and days upon days, unless intercessory prayer is your ministry and calling. Instead, staying prayed up or praying without ceasing is to have an awareness of God's awesome presence at all times. It means that we can pray short "breathe prayers," and God will hear and respond to our prayers. It means that we can be comfortable utilizing many postures of prayer all day long without drawing attention to yourself. God wants us to engage and have a personal relationship with Him, but He has some other people that he wants you and me to have fun with and engage in social activities with as well! Listen ladies, let's not be so heavenly minded that we are no earthly good!
Somewhere in Christianity 101, our traditions sent a subliminal message that Christians were always suppose to be serious, intense, stout, pious, etc. Going to church was not the place to go if you wanted to laugh and have fun. Many of us feel guilty about taking time for ourselves and taking time off. Who told you that having fun is a sin? That is a lie from the pit of hell. I know many women in the church and in the secular world that take their birthday off every year. I didn't have to do that because my birthday is in July and as a teacher my work year ended in June. I have learned that it is easy to get burned out in ministry. People, both woman and men, will continue to pull and pull on the anointing that you carry. And it is up to you to say, "Uncle," I need to lie down in green pastures.
I have learned that I need to receive as well as give. I need to be preached and ministered to every now and then. sometimes I don't need to hear another sermon or hear another gospel song at all! I know that might irritate some of my Christian Saints out there; but I believe in speaking truth to life. sometimes I listen to other types of music, or I just don't listen to any sounds at all. All I need is peace and quiet from time to time.
My awareness that every woman needs a "sabbath." Every woman needs to be celebrated and encouraged. That is why I continue to present the annual BFF Valentines Celebration in February. This is a time that women can get together and celebrate one another. We can listen to those sisters who have been gifted in the area of music, can be instructed and taught by women who have had struggles in life, but are still standing and walking out their ministry, we can hear anointed preaching and be lifted to the rafters, by the Word of God, all of which helps us to stay in the race and fight on until we receive our breakthrough. I am keenly aware that if nobody throws you a party, no one sends you flowers on Valentines Day, no one comes bearing gifts during the Christmas holiday; that You and I have to blow our own horn, gift our own selves, make our selves merry, and treat ourselves like the jewels in Christ that we are.
To hold myself together, I must go apart-away from my regular routine. there are times when I need to enjoy the fellowship with family, friends, and the Holy Spirit. I now understand why Jesus was at the wedding-it was to have fun! I know why Jesus went to Mary, Martha, and Lazarus house, It was to get some of Martha's good cooking, lol and to laugh and have fun with some friends. Jesus often went off on His own away from the crowds to be with his disciples, to enjoy family, friends and to fellowship with His Father. . Sometimes we need to be refueled or our engines will completely burn out.
The sun is shining, there's plenty of light..... lol I won't go there, but enjoy your day!
