The message I want to drive home to you today is this: "Put God First in Trust." Our Lord trusted in no man! yet, he was never suspicious, never bitter, never in despair, never jealous or envious, because He put God first in trust. He trusted absolutely in what God's grace could do for any man. If I put my trust in human beings first, my life will end in man being what no man can ever be-----absolutely right. I wouldn't be where I am today, I I had totally listened to man. I wouldn't be doing what I am doing today, if I only heard the voice of man. Never trust anything but the grace of God in yourself or in anyone else.Put God"s Needs first. Jesus said, " Lo I come to do Thy will, O God" (Hebrews 10:9).
Sometimes our need to obey our leaders, employers, spouse, and other civic leaders, supersede what God has instructed us to do for Him. His needs always seem to come "Next," but God isn't interested in coming next. He wants to be the "First" priority in our lives. That is whey the prophet told the poor widow woman from Zerephath, "Bring me a cake first," and then he said according to the word of the Lord, you and your son will eat for many days." (My words paraphrased). the woman trusted and believed God. she never went hungry from that day.
A man's obedience is usually predicated on what he perceives to be a need. Our Lord's obedience was to the will of His Father. the Lord knows what He Needs us to do. He is not speculating, guessing, hoping and a dreaming. The cry among the people of God is this: "We must get some work to do and we must make sure it gets done. But the heathen, the unsaved are dying without God; we must go and tell them of Him." We habve to see first of all that God's needs in us personally are being met, before we can help someone else.
In Luke 24:49 Jesus tells His disciples: " and behold, I send the promise of my father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from oh high." Another passage of Scriptures says: "Be still and know that I am God:" The problem is we don't wait on God. If some prophet, pastor, teacher, etc tells us "The Word of the Lord for you is, ........" we're off and running here and every which way. We haven't even took the time to read the Word of God, pray, and seek Him for answers to not our will being done; but rather what He has on His heart for us to do.
When God's needs in us have been met, then he will open the way for us to realize His needs elsewhere. Put God's Trust First. "And whoso receive one such little child in my name receiveth Me" (Matt. 18:5). God's trust is that he gives me Himself as a babe. he expects my personal life to be like Bethlehem. A place where the Bible said Jesus grew in the grace, knowledge, and obedience to his parents first.
The question to ask is: "Am I allowing my natural life to be slowly transfigured by the indwelling life of the Son of God? Or am I addicted to man's words and power over my life. One has to be very careful because the Bibles says that: "man's heart is deceitfully wicked, who can know it." But God's, Jesus knew what was in man's heart, so He did not get caught up with their commands, request, comments, desires etc.
God's ultimate purpose for our lives is that His Son, Jesus Christ be manifested in our mortal bodies. The only way that can be achieved, is if we always "Put Him First in the area of Trust."
