An Un-blushable Generation
One of my friends brought to my attention a passage from Jentzen Franklin’s book on fasting. It appears in the chapter entitled: “For the Little Ones.” He talks about the fact that this generation of young people is growing up in an environment where shame, embarrassment, and loathsome conduct is rather pervasive and engrained into the fabric of our society. “Today, if we have lost anything in this country says Franklin; we have lost the right way.”
Today, prayer along with periods of fasting has all but disappeared from our Christian discipline. In some denominations, fasting is not even practiced or adhered to. We have more outlets to obtain information through media enterprises such as Facebook, Twitter, Linked-in, Snap Chat, T.V. Internet, cell phones, or just taking a stroll through your local mall. Children are being exposed to illicit filth and perversion, with just the click of a button. Today the words of the weeping prophet Jeremiah rings true, and if you have any empathy or concern for our little ones, it can cause a lump in your throat as you read his words out loud.
When our children scroll through television using the remote, they come upon the sensual sexual content or violent movies displaying shooting and mass killings. These images don’t even phase our kids. The sexually charged content doesn’t’ even cause our young boys and girls to blush. Blush! If you are a Baby Boomer, you’ve heard that word before. I’m sure our kids have no knowledge of what that word even means. The definition of the word blush is:
1. To develop a pink tinge in the face from embarrassment or shame.
Listen to the words of the prophet who uses this very word in scripture.
"Are they ashamed of their loathsome conduct? No, they have no shame at all; they do not even know how to blush. So they will fall among the fallen; they will be brought down when I punish them. Jeremiah 6:15, NIV.
We are living in an age where gay and lesbian experimentation is considered normal in schools and on campuses when oral sex and every type of perversion imaginable is just winked at. Sexual perversion has entered boldly into our houses of worship. There are so-called Christian churches that embrace and welcome people who practice alternative lifestyles. The church has let the world and its foolishness stroll right up into the church.
We live in a time when there are more divorces among Christians than there are in the world. We wink at extramarital affairs and deem them totally acceptable. But our little ones are positioned to be an un-blushable generation. Already they are becoming all too familiar with the deeds of the flesh, aka, “Sin.” When they see immodest filth, they laugh or giggle when they should, as we did when we were young, close our eyes, put a hand over our eyes, look down towards the ground, look up in the air, and plug up our ears. These kids have their eyes wide open when they should instead blush and turn away like we did back in the day.
There is an enemy that is taking and targeting an entire generation in America today. Its grip is like a vise, it is getting tighter and tighter-reaching farther and farther into the throes of hell. We are standing at the crossroads. We must stand and take a stand, or rather, take a “KNEE.” We must ask for the old paths, ask where the good way is, the ancient path and walk in it, and then we will find rest for our souls and save a generation. (Jeremiah 6:16).
We must get back to prayer and fasting. We must take a KNEE FOR OUR KIDS. We must use as our mantra 2 Chronicles 7:12. "If my people, who are called by my name, would humble themselves and pray, turn from their wicked ways"……. America has a lot of repenting to do. Individually and collectively the Church has a lot of repenting to do. This is not a time to draw back and sit idly by while the devil wreaks havoc on this generation of young people. The Kingdom of God suffereth violence and the violent take it by force. We need to come together as the Body of Christ and fast, pray, repent and seek the face of God. Then and only then will we hear from heaven.
HAVE A GREAT EVENING AND: DON'T FORGET TO SAY YOUR PRAYERS
