Scripture: 2 Samuel 5:20 "so David went to Baal Perazim, and there he defeated them. He said, "As waters break out, the Lord has broken out against my enemies before me. "So that place was called Baal Perazim.
The Philistines were the arch enemies of Israel. In 2 Samuel 5:17-25 a record of still another attack is documented in the Scriptures. the Philistines did not consider that David had the presence of God with him, which Saul had forfeited and lost. the kingdom of the Messiah, as soon as it was set up in the world, was thus attecked by the powers of darkness. the heathen raged, and the kings of the earth set themselves to oppose it; butall in vain., Psalm 2:1, etc. The destruction will turn, as this did, upon satan's own kingdom. David was always dependent upon God for victory; and refers himself to the good pleasure of God. He was confident that Jehovah would fight for him. The assurance God has given us of victory over our spiritual enemies should encourage all of us to fight the good fight of faith.
David waited until God moved; he kept still until God moved. He was trained up to be dependent on God and his providence. God performed his promise, and David continued to grow in grace, grow in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding.
Baal-Perazim; literally means: "possessor of breaches, that is, the place where the attack burst forth. It is called Mount Perazim, "the hill of breaches." in Psalm 28:21, and as we have seen, it was the rocky height on the north of the valley of Rephaim. David had crept around the army of the Philistines, creeping, probably by night, up to this ridge of Ben-Hinnom, and then at dawn they rushed down upon the camp. And his attack was sudden and irresistible, like the rush of the waters of some mountain lake when, swollen with rains, it burst through the opposing dam, and in an instance carries destruction to everything that lies in its way.
Sometimes, there is so much going on in our lives, that it seems the rivers will overtake and drown us. If it ain't one thing, it's another. It is in those times that we must remember what time it is? Time, not according to man's calendar, rather time, according to God's calendar!
This is the year of Jubilee, and as such, according to Leviticus 25, It was the year of restoration and transformation. Whatever was stolen, kept back, held up, held in captivity, had to be set free! Slaves were set free, property was returned. The people were forbidden to plant a harvest. This was a Sabbath rest for even the land. The Israelite were required to let the land rest, and they were told to eat from the abundance that was laid up in the previous years.
There are times my sister and my brother, when we have to stake our claim, put our foot down, and tell the devil, NO!!! In no uncertain terms are you going to hold on to what rightfully belongs to me in this season. You are gonna cough it up, loose it, release it and spit it up NOW!!!! I am going over, I'm not going under. This is my time, my turn, and my season. I will not be denied what rightfully belongs to me in this season. I have sown, and it is now my time to reap.
I know the enemy is not going to sit by and allow me to reap the blessings that God has laid up for you and me in this season. So we must call on Jehovah Perizim, the God That Breaks Through! I/we need Him to fight for us. We need the assistance of the angelic host to go to battle on our behalf. "When the enemy comes in, like a flood the spirit of the Lord lifts up a standard against him" (Isaiah 59:19).
Sometimes you feel outnumbered, demons on the right, strife and confusion on the left. Every time you turn around, bills, crazy kinfolk, foolishness on the job, witchcraft and manipulation among your peers, and in the leadership of the church, make you want to holler, throw up both your hands!" That is when you need to call on the God of the breakthrough. You and I need Him to come rushing in to wipe out and take out, anything that does not belong in your life in this season. He is more than the whole world against you.
This is a season where we must keep focused. We must pray, fast, stay in God's Word, be careful of what we say, watch on T.V., be prayerful of people we attach ourselves to and, we must use discernment when it comes to visiting and fellow-shipping with different churches.
We definitely must try the Spirit by the Spirit in this season. "IJS"
If you continue reading that chapter, you will notice that, after the Philistines were defeated, they didn't give up, they came back for round two. what is significant is, when David inquired of the Lord, as to the strategy he needed to use to defeat them a second time, the Lord gave him a different set of instructions. Ahhh......We will talk about that tomorrow. Remember, just because the first strategy worked, doesn't mean it will work the same way. "SELAH."
HEY ENJOY YOUR EVENING AND DON'T FORGET TO SAY YOUR PRAYERS!!!
