"A Love That Cannot Be Lost"
"Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so." "For I am persuaded that nothing can separate me from the love of God in Christ Jesus." Romans 8:38-39.
these are comforting words, words that I have heard from a little child and words that I have heard as an older disciple of God. Both are a profound spiritual truth-simple, yet not simplistic. That basic truth kept me stable, and many others in the Word of God over my lifetime, but particularly while I was moving through grieving my loved ones. the deepest expression of God's enduring faithful love for us was the incarnation, sacrifice and resurrection of His Son, Jesus.
There are many things that force us into our valley of grief, but we can still find assurance and confidence in God's ability to heal all our wounds. We can find confidence in his unfailing love. (Psalm 46; Romans 8:35-39).
The promises of God and the comfort of God comes when we move in faith. Though we are surrounded by death and the pain of loss, our hearts are pierced as well. But we are not alone.
God's rod and his staff are symbols of God's presence and protection as we negotiate the treacherous valley of grief. Rarely is a satisfying explanation for our suffering and grief given. Rather, God shares our suffering through His suffering Son who is our faithful and merciful High Priest. who never abandons us. Hebrews (13:5)
We must choose to trust God, even when we cannot see Him or trace Him. Heaven and earth will pass away, but His Word will stand throughout eternity.
