When Jesus says, "Let's, our response should automatically be, "Go." But what do we do? We intellectualized, doubt, make excuses, want to know who else is going, ask for signs, ask Him to repeat what He said to make sure we heard him correctly and the list goes on and on.
Why can't we just take God at his word and get to stepping! Why do we resist his call, his beckoning, his directives to cross over/go over to the other side? Don't you know that Jesus already knows what's on the other side for you and me? Don't you know that blessings await us on the other side of our obedience to His word? Don't you know He has already fixed every problem that might be awaiting us on the other side?
It's funny that we seldom have issues with people's invitations to, "Let's Go" do this or that, let's go here or there! For example: Let's go to the club, let's go to the casino, let's smoke some weed, let's check out these girls over there, let's roll on this brother over here, let's go on vacation, or let's get some chicken and waffles etc.
It seems we only have difficulty when Jesus says those words to us. Look at the difference in his menu if you will: Let's go feed the hungry, let's go visit the sick, let's go visit the prisons, let's start a church over in this part of the city, let's start a revival and have a tent service, let's turn our plate down and fast until we hear a word from the Lord, let's stay here in church until somebody gets saved, delivered and set free!
Why are we so scared and reluctant when Jesus says, "Let's go do, see, and work." The problem lies within ourselves. We don't believe God! Our faith hasn't been tested in tight places and we are afraid of the unknown. But wait a minute. Doesn't God know our beginning from our ending? Shouldn't we trust him and do what He is asking us to do without hesitation? Think about it; when your friend says to you, "Let's go to the club, do you know who is going to be at the club? Do you know that a fight could break out at the club and many people can be hurt or killed? Do you know in advance that when Pookie and Ray Ray and them say to you, "Let's go to the casino, do you know that they will run out of money, ask if they can borrow some for you, and lay a guilt trip on you if you say no. Then you with your crazy self wind up spending up all the rent and grocery money from your family.
When yoru best friend says, "Let's smoke some weed," did you know that the one drag would take you down a road to drug addiction that would take you years of recovery to overcome? Bet you didn't know the words "Let's go" could get you into so much trouble. So why do we trust in man who is so limited in their ability to know what will happen from one moment to the next. We can't even save ourselves.
In the text Jesus tells his disciples,"Let's go to the other side and then He gets into the boat, goes to the back and takes a nap. But as they sailed a windstorm comes up on the lake, and the boat starts taking on water. So they go to the back of the boat, wake up Jesus saying, "Master, Master, we are perishing!" then He gets up and rebukes the wind and the raging water. And they ceased, and there was a calm. But he said to them, Where is your faith?" And they were afraid and marveled, saying to one another, "Who can this be?"
I contend that whenever God says to you or me, "Lets go over to the other side," He has a plan in mind. He has already made the way, It doesn't matter the storms that might turn up in our lives in the midst of the storm; if God says we're going to cross over, that's a promise you can take to the bank. All we need is have faith to believe and trust the one that has already seen our situation in the future. He knows exactly how to direct our steps so that we can handle the in between times. All we have to do is Trust and Obey Him and we will make it to the other side. Sometimes we have to make it on broken boards and pieces from our wind tossed ship, but nevertheless, God promises to bring us safely to the other side.
It is an awesome time to be alive! Go out and have a blessed day.
And: "Don't forget To Say Your Prayers."
