(1). David didn't attempt to pray away his problem! If David had prayer away Saul's evil spirit, he'd have prayed away his opportunity to serve God in that environment- and the ones to follow. I know we do not like pain and persecution, but the truth is the benefits that are received through perseverance, is worth it in the long run.
David knew God was up to something good so he kept his joy, tuned his ear to God and found out what the moment demanded in order for God to show up. God is a troublehooter. When He sees trouble He sends in a sleeper spy, who is actually a sniper fully capable of taking the devil out. God can empower you to be a solution to somebody's problem. Whatever the problem is on your job, know that God is in the midst of it all. There is no situation that He cannot bring you through. He can turn your messy situation into opportunities to minister to an unbeliever or to speak to the spriit of "Saul" in you boss or co-worker and tell that demon, "Come out in the name of Jesus;" or you can surround your work environment with inner prayers and worship music that prevents those evil spirits from penetrating your atmosphere.
(2). When David was called he didn't just come; he came with gifts. He brought "an ass laden with bread' (1 samuel 16:20). He also brought his harp-playing skills! He didn't ask, "What's in it for me?" We need to get rid of our "gimme spirit" and replace it with a heart that comes to serve. That involves keeping a right attitude, saying, "this may be a hard time, but it's also short-term. So I'll check my attitude regularly and be grateful for what I have, so I can be trustd with what I am about to be given. While I am here I am going to make God happy He picked me for the job, and show those I work with that I've got something they need."
I believe our prosperity lies in how we honor those who are over us. I also believe our prosperity is tied ti our gifts and how we use them. For many of us our finanacial turn-around will manifest when we learn how to be the solution to another man's problem. That is where the gold and silver is, thata is where your promotion is, that is where you business opporynity and entrepreneurship begins. But first we must be faithful in another man's work, and treat the company like it belongs to us." When we do that, God steps in sees our faithfulness, checks our attitude, He decides whether or not we can handle more responsibility, and then He rewards our efforts.
There use to be a wine commercialy a long time ago that said ,"We will serve no wine before its time," When the Bible talks about, "Seed, Time, And Harvest," that is what it means. Nothing of value happens over night. so continue to praise God for your present situation. Thank Him for what you currently possess, but make you request and petitions known to Him also. God is never early, nor is He late; He is always on time. To God Be The Glory!
