How would he fare in battle? Would he see a giant, or a giant God standing behind him? Was he proud and self-sufficient, running ahead of God, or did he rely solely on God? Would he be fair with people? How would he handle authority, regardless of their personal shortcomings?
Sometimes God wants to bless us with his goodness but He can't because too much success will spoil some of us. Too much success will go to some of our heads. People tend to have a short memory. Once the blessings start coming we forget that the God that we serve is responsible for the eleveation of our status. We start believing our own press, and soon we begin to scorn others and say things like: "I got mine, he or she will have to get theirs the best way that they can." We pretend that we are self-made, solely responsible for our own success; but the devil is a liar!
David wasn't fully aware of what God had planned for him, but he acknowledged God in all his ways. Someone once said, "Character is what you are when nobody is watching." Well, God is always watching! He was watching David- and He is watching you and me!
Most of us do not work as though God is watching, or even cares about the job we're doing. As I began to grow spiritually in the Lord, He was expecting me to grow and produce fruit that would remain. My integrifgy and character mattered to Him. Things that I use to do on the job, I could no longer do. Ways that I use to talk to people on my job, I could no longer talk in the same manner. In the past If I saw extra paper in the printer tray, or saw books left by other teachers in the copyroom, I would take them. I didn't really think of it as stealing, but that is what it was! lol. I think teachers are some of the greatest theives on the job. I think that is because our resources are so limited, and we wind up spending scores of money for classroom materials; that somehow we deserve extra things that we pick up or find.
But God's Word and power was perfecting and convicting me of sinl When will we learn that there is no big sin or little sin? The Bible says that sin is sin. God has to able to trust us when watchful eyes are upon us and when they aren't. I heard Joyce Meyer say one time that she was under such conviction by God, that she felf bad if she didn't return the shoopping cart to its proper place. Before God will allow us to go to the next level, He has to take us through trials and tribulations to try us and break our will down, so that He will get the glory out of our lives, every inch or it.
We fail to realize that promotion doesn't come "from the the north, south, east, or west, but it comes from God." (Psalm 75:6- 7 NIV). Do you understand that as difficult as your current job may be, God has placed you there for a purpose? He has depositied you there so that you can learn how do deal with the enemy, grow in grace and maturity, and be trained for better things. Think about it!
It's a beautiful crisp day outside. I encourage you to do something today to bless those around you or those you may come in contact with throughout your day .But do me a favor,
"Don't Forget To Say Your Prayers!"
