But there's something sad here. David passed on his weakness to his son Amnon, and he ended up raping his sister. And, although David was angry he didn't confront or punish Amnon, because what could he say? After all- like father like son! Lust isn't just a whim or a passing fancy, it's sin; when it passes from one generation to the next it becomes an enemy stronghold in your bloodline. We often call it, "a generational curse or a genetic predisposition." Many of us in the body of Christ speak too lightly of these afflictions and weaknesses and call them indescretions or issues. But the Bible still calls them Sin!
Maybe somewhere in your family tree there is a workaholic father, a mother who was emotionally unavailable, a brother or sister who drank too much, a grandmother that was a perfectionist, and now you are wrestling with the same infirmities or weaknesses. God says, "The weapons of our warfare are mighty through God;.These weapons we figh with have divine power to demolish strongholds."so before you run off to the rehab center or a divorce court, name your stronghold, name your affliction, then pray, asking God to break its cicle on your family! Do it before it infects the next generation! don't pass it on- pass it back to the pit of hell where it came from! How do I do that you might ask? By making Jesus the Lord over every area of your life!
When God saves you, it's not just so that you can have" fire insurance," meaning, you dont have to go to hell and burn for eternity. He not only wants to give you and me eternal life, He wants to rule and reign in our mortal bodies. God's plan is that we prosper, be in good health, even as our soul prospers while we are on earth. (1 John 3:2). To live the abundant life that God planned for us we must allow Him entrance to every part of our life. That is what it means to make Him Savior And LORD!. There should be no area of our lives that He doesn't have access to.
That is why we have such whimpy saints, They give God only a portion of their lives and gurard the other part that is not sanctified. We are caught up in our proclivities, weaknesses, weights and sins that keep us in cycles and in bondage to the devil. But we must realize that Jesus demoslishe the devil's rule over us. He set us free from death, hell and the grave. Jesus took the punishment that we deserved. He restored peace between us and an angry God. When Jesus returned back to heaven, He sent the Holy Spirit to reign in our weak bodies. We did not receirve Holy Spirit Jr! we got the same Holy spirit that the apostles and the early Christians received. His power is able to pull down strongholds in our lives, the lives of our family, the principalities governing our community, state, country and this world's systems.
God left us fully loaded and packing. Now all we have to do is use our weapon of prayer to bring us into total wholeness and fruitfulness. I pray that something was said that will inspire you to look at you weaknesses and not play it forward, nor pass it on, but pass it back, and be through with it. Your deliverance will allow the next generation to walk in freedom. May God bless you and keep you.
