In the Christmas story we learn that: (1) God can use people you don't know to bless you! An amen goes right there. There have been countless stories during this Advent Season of "Secret Santas" that have shown up at various venues. They leave large tips at people's tables in restaurants. They go into places like Target, Wal-mart, or Toys R Us, and pay for layaway items that individuals have placed on installment until they have the funds to pay for them at Christmas, or thereafter. These wonderful people bless others with random acts of kindness and ask nothing in return. Most of us are totally consumed with receiving and not giving. But the Bible says in Acts 20:35 King James Version (KJV) 35: "I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive."
Psalm 41:1–2 1. "Blessed is he who considers the poor; The Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.
And he will be blessed on the earth; You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies."
The Wise men were not devout Jews or committed Christians, but Persian stargazers. Don't be selective in who you allow God to bless you; you will only tie God's hands if you do that. Open your heart and you will start seeing Him reaching out to you through the most interesting people.
(2). God can take care of you tomorrows. Joseph and Mary would have to leave home and flee to Egypt. What would they live on? I'll tell you what! Can somebody say, "Gold, Frankincense and myrrh." These were the gifts that the Wise Men brought the the new king. These were only gifts the rich can give. When you are in the will of God, he will provide for you. He may do it through your job or the generosity of others, but He will do it.
You don't have to stay up all night worrying, trying to figure out how you're gonna pay the rent, all you're money spent, a little bit to buy some food, the baby needs a pair of shoes, look you have a light bill due and you even have a gas bill too; telephone disconnected, waiting on the next pay check. I'll tell you what you ought to do folks, you must let Jesus work it out. Because while you are trying to figure it out, He has already tapped somebody with the assignment to come and rescue you!!!
The Psalmist said,"I have been young, and now am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread" (Psalm 47:25).
(3). God can override the system and get you the help that you need. "The star guided them to where the young child should be born" (Matthew 2:9). In the history of the solar system there's never been anything like it. God moved a star like we move a pawn in a chess game. That is because He "worketh all things after the counsel of his own will" (Ephesians 1:11).
I remember after Tom died, I was faced with the responsibility of paying the mortgage on the house as well as the job of paying for the rest of the utilities. In addition to that I had a big fat personal loan that I had taken out for my daughter's college education. I had deferred the loan and wasn't making payments on it, so the interest kept building and building. It came time that I longer could deal with the mounting expense. I cried out to the Lord for help. and He heard my cry and delivered me. I called "Sall", Ya'll know Sally some of you right? And Sally instructed me what to do. I followed though on those instructions, and they cancelled my DEBT IN FULL! Amen! God is a God of debt cancellation. Not only did He cancel my debt, I kept receiving back interest payments to the tune of $500.00. The letters kept coming with $100,00 checks in them. lol
The story ends with these words: "When they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and they fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him" gold, frankincense, and myrrh." Quite a story, isn't it?
If He did it for Mary and Joseph, He will do it for you. He did it again for me last week. Someone blessed the church in a tremendous way. It was totally unexpected. But the Lord knows what we need, even before we ask Him. It is all about right motives, right living, and right giving.
I am happy that the Lord helps me to be a "Giver." I don't give to receive in return, but that is indeed, God's natural law, so I just open up my hand when he touches someone to place something in my hand. Blessings are not always monetary, They come in so many other ways. But which ever way you decide to bless me Lord, I receive it. From your hands, (those you send), to my grateful and thankful heart and hands.
