I was in my den vacuuming the floor when I reminded myself why I had bought his new Kirby vacuum. I really did not need to buy a one because the old one was only about seven years old. And if you know anything about Kirby’s they pretty much last a life time, but I got the newest version for an unheard of price, which I will not divulge. I bought it because the horsepower had increased. It was more powerful than the old version. For some reason, the word “4 cylinder,” came to mind. I remember buying my first car. It was a Pontiac Grand Le mans. It was silver with a red landau top, so pretty. It was a four cylinder engine.
The next three cars I bought had a four cylinder engine as well.
The reason I am mentioning it is because, I like to get where I need to go fast. If a car is in my way and I need to get around it, I need the power to do so. After fooling around with 4 cylinder cars, I finally bought a 6 cylinder car. It was an Acura, and when I paid that off, I bought a Maximum, both 6 cylinder cars. I currently have Infinity EX wagon. It is pretty fast, but it is 8 year old now. The point I am making is this: Even though I like the idea that I can maximize my driving speed and get around quickly in my EX, I rarely drive that fast. I pretty much obey the law.
However, and this is my point; we often desire more! We want more friends, more money, more respect, a better paying job, more ministry opportunities, more love, and when it comes to cars, we want more speed and more prestige based upon the newest luxury models. The problem is, most of us are not operating effectively with what we already have. So Lydia, you want the new I Phone; well, you have not mastered the programs on the Samsung 7 Edge yet. You are not getting the millage, the full use out of that phone, because you won’t read the manual!!! “Hello!” I bought the new Kirby, but, I did not use, all of the attachments from the old one. Yes, it has more power, but, people upgrade because of the special features, the “Toys,” if you will, that make a machine more beneficial and enjoyable!!!!
Stop saying you need an upgrade when you won’t maximize the “thing,” you already have. That is true for your relationship with God, technology, cars, love relationships, money, jobs, car and ministry!!! Most of the things that make or lives easier in the 21st century come with a manual, READ THE MANUAL!!!
Power for living a godly, enjoying a prosperous and being in good health comes with a manual, it’s called the “BIBLE.”
HAVE A BLESSED DAY AND DON'T FORGET TO SAY YOUR PRAYERS.
