This is a continuation of my blog entitled: "Time to Grow Up." So maybe you are not dull of hearing, which is one indicator that you might be spiritually immature, so let's take a look at indicator #2.
"The inability to teach others, (Hebrews 5:12b). The Hebrews should have been able to teach others by now. They had been Christians for some time. the Word says: "By this time you ought to be teachers!" These people had time to learn and grow. A natural response to growth is to bear fruit. One way to bear fruit is by teaching others. You don't have to be a license or ordained minister to tell someone about the hope and life you have in Jesus Christ. in one way or another, the people should have been able to teach others., The need for someone to teach them again the first principles of the gospel demonstrated their spiritual immaturity.
Are you able to teach others? Assuming that sufficient time has passed, are you teaching others? Are you teaching formally as a teacher instructing others in the faith; or informally, by sharing your faith with others? Do you find yourself saying: "I don't know what to say?
Then that sounds like you have forgotten the first princciples of the gospel, and you need to have someone teach you again. And if you do not know what those principles are, here are the basic ones:
What Jesus did on earth, His birth, life, teaching, death, burial, and resurrection. Therefore if you are still stuck in Christianity 101, you are not ready for solid food yet and therefore not able to teach others. So if you are not able to teach, maybe we should look at your diet. In my next blog we will discuss the third indicator of spiriual immaturity: "A diet of milk."
And as always my motto is: "Don't Forget To Say Your Prayers."
